Getting started is easy. A consultation with one of our medical professionals to evaluate and present cosmetic options is the first step. The patient’s desires and needs are addressed, and a custom plan is developed that offers the optimal strategy for delaying the signs of aging and for maximizing treatment results.
BOTOX treatments involve the use of a purified protein called Botulinum Toxin that helps block certain nerve signals from the brain to the particular muscle. By relaxing or loosening a small set of muscles, a localized weakness takes place and over time wrinkles and other unwanted facial features are gradually reduced and can be kept from occurring. A very small injection of this protein into your facial muscles helps this blockage take place. If you are concerned about the appearance of “crow’s feet” and squint lines, consider BOTOX treatments today – our highly specialized team of cosmetic dermatology specialists can walk you through the entire process, and are committed to providing the highest level of care and support.
Juvéderm™ is an injectable gel that is used to soften deep folds, smooth out wrinkles, and add youthful contours to your face. This nonsurgical treatment is administered by a member of our team, who fills in the soft tissue of the dermis (the inner layer of skin). The procedure adds volume to lips, removes smile lines and nasolabial folds, and plumps hollow places and scars on the face for a youthful glow and tone. Comprised largely of hyaluronic acid, Juvéderm™ is a “next-generation” filler. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in your skin, which adds volume and helps to keep your skin hydrated. As you age, natural hyaluronic acid diminishes, making smile lines and wrinkles more pronounced. Juvéderm™ works to reverse the appearance of aging by restoring hyaluronic acid in your skin with repeated applications. Eventually, the hyaluronic acid in the facial filler is absorbed by the body, so repeated procedures every 6-9 months are required to maintain the younger look.
Kybella™ is a prescription medicine used in adults to reduce moderate to severe “double-chin” (submental) fat. This procedure improves your profile and overall appearance. When the active ingredient in Kybella is injected into the fat beneath the chin, it targets and destroys fat cells. This procedure results in a noticeable reduction in the fullness under the chin. Once administered, these cells will then lose their future ability to store and accumulate fat, making the procedure a long-term solution for many. It is not known if KYBELLA™ is safe and effective for use outside of the submental area.
Radiesse is a wrinkle filler used to plump the skin and smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Its positive results can be seen immediately but will continue to improve over time. This filler works to add volume under the skin and over time, the benefits of RADIESSE continue by naturally stimulating your body’s own natural collagen. Radiesse is injected under the skin using a very fine gauge needle, and adds volume. Because it naturally stimulates your body’s own natural collagen, results are seen immediately and – in many patients – continue for a year or more.
New IPL at Ft. Collins Skin Clinic Helps Treat Brown Spots and Rosacea
If you’ve noticed you’re developing dark spots, large patches of uneven brown discoloration, Rosacea or broken blood vessels, our new Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment – available in our Poudre River Drive Office, may be just what the doctor ordered.
Intense Pulsed Light™ (IPL) is a breakthrough age spot treatment that can address numerous skin conditions, without injuring the skin’s surface. IPL offers a gentle, long-lasting solution for visible signs of skin damage that affect the way you look.
What Causes Brown Spots?
Blotchy dark spots can be caused by sun exposure over time, certain medications (including hormones), or genetics. Generally, a brown spot is a focal area of either a higher number of pigment cells (called “melanocytes”) or an increased number of pigment molecules (called “melanin”) located within the melanocyte.
Excess melanin resides in your epidermis – the top layer of your skin — and deeper, in your dermis, making these brown spots a diverse group of skin issues – not a single one. Different types of increased pigmentation require different treatments.
Brown Spot Removal
IPL, a safe, effective in-office treatment requiring no anesthesia – removes brown spots and patches from the skin by selectively targeting the melanin and melanocyte, leaving the other cells in the skin untouched. p>
Unlike lasers, the IPL device was created to treat combinations of skin issues. The goal of IPL treatments, which are usually performed as a series, is to decrease the irregular brownish and reddish areas that have developed as a result of aging and sun damage, and to brighten the skin – giving it a more youthful appearance.
IPL treatments deliver a broad range of colors of light at the same time, to treat multiple skin conditions occurring in larger areas. Filters are then used to selectively deliver light in various wavelengths to different layers (and depths) of the skin. We can control the best setting and wavelength to target your brown spots and even some forms of blotchy redness, on the face, neck, chest, arms and legs.
Treatments take 15 to 30 minutes, and there are no needles. Skin may be red and feel mildly sunburned for a few hours after procedures, and you can resume normal activities immediately with no downtime.
Brown spots that are treated may darken for up to three weeks, and then fade and flake off. Over the course of treatment, you will see noticeable improvements in your skin’s discolorations, texture, and overall appearance.
Other Brown Spot Removal Options
Treatments that smooth the texture of the skin (“skin resurfacing”) can also decrease brown spots. Each of these treatments focuses on different combinations of skin issues. Some work for more superficial freckles. Others are more effective for deeper pigment like melasma or deeper sun damage.
Is My Face Red?
For those who suffer the chronic redness or flushing caused by Rosacea, you know this condition can have an impact on your confidence. IPL offers a virtually painless and long-term solution for rosacea treatment that will not only change how you look…but how you feel.
With targeted IPL treatment, the facial redness, flushing and visible blood vessels associated with this condition will gradually vanish. IPL initiates the body’s natural response to break down and remove damaged tissue. New cells rebuild and replace the problem area with clear, beautiful skin.
Erasing Broken Capillaries
You know those little red lines that appear around your nose or on your cheeks? IPL treatment can make them history. IPL provides pinpoint accuracy for removing capillaries without disturbing healthy tissue or other blood vessels in the area. Veins disappear. And there’s nothing to show you’ve had anything done, except clearer, younger-looking skin.
It can be difficult to know which treatment is best for your unique brown spot skin issues. We invite you to schedule a consultation today. We’ll evaluate your skin issues and describe the treatment options that would be most helpful for you.
